Accountable Care
eHealth Initiative is working with its members to research and support efforts related to the role of health IT in Accountable Care. In 2010, Congress passed the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to improve the health care delivery system. The new law encouraged the development of Accountable Care, which are networks of providers and organizations who are accountable for the health of a group of Medicare beneficiaries. Many organizations are creating, joining or considering becoming an Accountable Care organization. Currently, the data required to manage a patient's whole health isn't available. Accountable Care will need an electronic infrastructure that allows them to access and use the data contained in each provider organization.
