National E-prescribing Conference Sponsored by CMS and Industry Partners

eHI invites CMS meeting participants and members to join the opening night reception at CMS' National E-Prescribing Conference at the Boston Sheraton on October 6, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. eHI is hosting the reception in collaboration with CVS Caremark, AARP, the American Medical Association, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, National Association of Chain Drug Stores, National Community Pharmacists Association, and Surescripts-RxHub, LLC.

Though attendance for the conference is already past capacity, eHI invites members to RSVP at http://www.ehealthinitiative.org/rsvp_cms_2008.mspx to attend the reception, which will be open not only to conference attendees but also to all eHI members, regardless of whether they are able to attend the conference.

The reception, "Celebrating Leadership", will highlight the leadership of the many stakeholders in the field who have advanced the use of e-prescribing to support improvements in the quality, safety and effectiveness of health care, including clinicians, consumer groups, employers, health plans, pharmacies and pharmacists, health care information technology vendors, hospitals, and state and local leaders.

The reception will feature keynote remarks by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Acting Administrator Kerry Weems, as well as highlights from "A Clinician's Guide to Electronic Prescribing"-a soon-to-be-released guide on e-prescribing developed by the eHealth Initiative with the strategic guidance of a multi-stakeholder steering group, and in collaboration with the Center for Improving Medication Management, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Physicians, and the Medical Group Management Association.
