Save the Date, December 4 - 5th
Taking the Pulse of Health IT:
A Critical Review of Progress Over the Last Five Years and
Key Recommendations for 2009 and Beyond
On December 3-5, 2008, the eHealth Initiative will host its Fifth Annual Conference and Awards Dinner at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. The Fifth Annual Conference will feature key decision-makers; policymakers; and national, state, and local leaders across every sector of health care who will come together to assess the current state of health IT progress, including an evaluation of where we thought we would be, key accomplishments and progress made, and an assessment of where we might have fallen short and why. Sessions will also focus on looking forward to 2009 and beyond, offering key insights to the new Administration, Congressional members and private sector leaders across health care. Recognized leaders in the field will moderate panels, the participants of which will present papers offering different views. The following areas will be addressed:
- Improvements in Quality and Efficiency
- Engaging Consumers and Patients
- Using Health IT for Better Care Coordination and Chronic Care Management
- Addressing Financing Issues
- Increasing Access and Addressing Disparities
- Getting to Better Evidence on Outcomes and Effectiveness
- Addressing Privacy and Confidentiality
- Standards Adoption and Interoperability
In June, eHI is now issuing a broad call for policy papers that offer perspectives on "taking the pulse and creating recommendations for 2009 and beyond." To submit a paper offering your assessment, click here. Participant insights and papers will be published in an online environment hosted by eHI which will launch in July 2008. Authors for a subset of the papers will be invited to present their views in a general session panel discussion during the conference, and presented papers will be compiled into a compendium for the conference.
The conference will also highlight the best practices of a number of organizations who have exhibited leadership in each of the Blueprint areas, drawing upon the numerous presentation proposals issued to eHI over the last few months.
