eHealth Initiative's
First Annual Improving Quality Through Information Technology Awards
2007 Award Recipients

In 2007, the eHealth Initiative (eHI) presented its first annual First Annual Improving Healthcare Quality Through Information Technology Awards honoring eight organizations for demonstrating leadership and excellence in utilizing health information technology or health information exchange to drive improvements in healthcare.

The awardees exemplify the principles and strategies identified in eHI's Blueprint: Building Consensus for Common Action. These organizations are models for how the use of health IT and health information exchange can support improvements in the quality, safety and efficiency of health care. The award program recognized organizations in four key areas:

  • Transforming Care Delivery
  • Engaging Consumers
  • Aligning Financial and Other Incentives
  • Improving Population Health

Final awardees were selected based on their ability to demonstrate improvements in health and healthcare by utilizing health IT and health information exchange to support four of the five above-identified healthcare improvement strategies. Successful candidates also demonstrated collaboration with multiple stakeholders; exceptional leadership and commitment; and impact on the field and commitment to sharing of best practices.

eHI solicited and received nominations from across the country. Nominations were  evaluated and reviewed by an expert selection committee. The final award winners and honorable mention organizations are listed below by category. To learn more about each organization, click on the links below.
