Manager Public Policy
The eHealth Initiative (eHI), a Washington, D.C.-based independent, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare through information technology, seeks a Manager of Policy to manage health information technology policy issues and programs. The desired candidate is a highly motivated, self-starter, with excellent analytic, written and oral communications, and project planning and organization skills. A strong knowledge of health information technology (HIT) issues and substantive knowledge of health care issues, particularly those involving Medicare and Medicaid or FDA is required.

The duties of the Manager include:

  • Monitoring and analyzing relevant legislative and regulatory issues related to HIE expansion and HIT implementation, including evolving requirements for the meaningful use of HIT
  • Prepare concise written communications that synthesize complex policy issues/ideas, including but not limited to a regular reports on activities in Washington
  • Serve as a resource to eHI members on aforementioned legislative and regulatory issues.
  • Direct a work group comprised of eHI members focused on the implications for consumers of the expansion of HIT and HIE , including planning meetings, audioconferences and web events for the group
  • Develop and maintain relationships with congressional and federal regulatory staffs
  • Support ongoing eHealth Initiative activities, including:
  • Standing steering committees and work groups
  • Development of educational content, including surveys, white papers and reports
  • Annual conferences and forums, in Washington and regionally

Undergraduate degree in related discipline and a minimum of six years legislative or related experience required. Relevant graduate degree in health policy, public health, public policy, law or other related field may offset some of the direct work experience requirements. Salary will depend on experience and qualifications.As with all positions at the eHealth Initiative, the Manager / Director duties require the ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Senior Level Director
The eHealth Initiative (eHI), a Washington, D.C.-based independent, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare through information technology, seeks a seasoned manager to take the lead on a number of research projects and educational programs, and also direct staff and activities.

Candidates must be knowledgeable in HIT, and have a significant, proven track record of managing projects, programs and staff. Strong project management experience required. Candidates should have a basic understanding of the issues related to health information exchange, regional extension centers, care coordination and HIT Policy. His/her background will encompass managing multiple projects/departments, coaching and developing people, and managing programs.

The desirable candidate is a highly motivated individual with 10+ years of professional experience who has knowledge of healthcare and current health information technology (HIT) issues and is interested in working with private and public sector leaders to drive meaningful change in healthcare.

The role involves:

  • Development, implementation and oversight of educational and research programs related to HIT and health information exchange
  • Convening eHI’s multi-stakeholder members at monthly workgroup meetings to develop tools and resources
  • Oversee development of annual HIE Survey and Report working with external advisors
  • Oversee management and development of conferences, meetings and special briefings.
  • Managing the development of monthly webinars, including agenda development, speaker invitation and coordination.
  • Maintaining content on website research, develop and draft policy reports and briefs and assist with report dissemination and presentation to policy audiences

Position requires regular interaction with eHI members and staff, executive branch agencies and officials involved in community, state, regional, and local health information exchange initiatives, as well business executives, health information technology professionals and other healthcare stakeholders.Other Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Strong organizational, diplomatic and strategy formulation skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including ability to work closely with high-level executives and national experts
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills - ability to work with national experts and Administration leaders
  • Contacts within HIT and understanding of resources available

Director of New Business Development
The Director of New Business Development is responsible for bringing in new members and selling sponsorship opportunities. The Director must effectively communicating services and benefits of eHealth Initiative (eHI) membership to potential new members in addition to selling sponsorship for various events and education series to current members and non-members. This position is instrumental in helping the organization meet its revenue and profitability goals. This includes marketing eHealth Initiative services and benefits to the industry, following up on contacts generated by staff, cold calling, prospecting and closing sales opportunities quickly and efficiently.

This position demands a highly motivated individual with strong sales, communication and organizational skills who is eager to become part of an innovative and highly respected organization.

Salary Range is $70K with bonus incentives.

Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive membership recruitment plan to achieve membership growth and monthly and annual revenue and cash targets, as well as to maintain the organization’s position as an industry leader.
  • Utilize existing knowledge and contacts in healthcare to develop and communicate member benefits and services to support new member recruitment. This requires networking at industry conferences, outreach to organizations, developing and following up on leads through referral channels such as eHI’s Board of Leadership Council.
  • Develop and maintain a broad background in the organization’s full spectrum of offerings, to ensure the ability to design customer solutions and close sales opportunities as independently as possible. 
  • Develop and implement strategies for business development, identifying new funding sources for the organization and securing commitments.
  • Report weekly to the Senior Director of Development on progress against goals in new business development plan. Reports must be accurate and detailed and provide information for Director and CEO to make decisions based on data reported.
  • Must ensure an understanding of the prospect’s needs and objectives, and approach membership and sponsorship as a partnership between eHI and their organization.
  • Ensure a clean knowledge transfer and hand-off of closed sales to the Accounting and the Membership Coordinator so that service issues can be handled smoothly and member satisfaction can be maximized.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • At least five years experience in the healthcare industry and/or membership organization
  • A passionate commitment to improving health and healthcare in the United States
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong presentation skills
  • Experienced organizational, problem solving and prioritization skills, strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including ability to work closely with high-level executives required.
  • A high degree of self-motivation
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), and experience with databases.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule

Administrative Assistant (30 - 40 Hours, Flexible) 
The eHealth Initiative (eHI), a Washington, D.C.-based independent, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare through information technology, seeks a seasoned assistant to provide administrative support to CEO and other senior level executives. Great opportunity for retiree or working mom.
  • Answering phone, scheduling meetings, and hosting on-line meetings
  • Assist with the management of ACT! database of contacts
  • Coordinate meeting logistics in advance and onsite
  • Coordinate communications among workgroups, staff and members
  • Assist with the production of program materials for printing and for the web
  • Provide some proof-reading support
  • Assist with posting content on website

Policy Fellow
The eHealth Initiative seeks highly motivated individuals interested in a part-time or full-time position as Policy Fellow.  This fellowship position is an opportunity for growth and learning that requires a highly motivated individual with strong communications, organizational and interpersonal skills who is eager to learn and contribute as part of an innovative and highly respected cutting-edge organization. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support and contribute to the development of major public policy reports, including background research, writing and analysis
  • Summarize legislation and other policy developments for the website, newsletter, policy briefs and other communications support.
  • Help provide the latest policy analysis and information to our multi-stakeholder membership
  • Assist with development of grassroots advocacy strategy and system.
  • Attend and summarize legislative and policy briefings.

Qualifications:

  • Desire to learn cutting edge issues in healthcare and work in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Educational background in healthcare policy.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet goals.
