WASHINGTON, D.C. – JANUARY 28, 2010 – Five champions of health information technology (IT), including a U.S. senator and a physician champion, were named eHealth Advocates of the Year by the eHealth Initiative (eHI) on January 25th, in recognition of their achievement of quantifiable benefits from the use of health IT systems. The annual awards were announced on the first day of eHI’s 2010 conference, Delivering on the Promise of eHealth.
The 2010 recipients of the eHealth Advocate of the Year Awards are:
- eHealth Advocate of the Year – Individual, Public Sector
- Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)
- eHealth Advocate of the Year – Individual, Private Sector
- Larry Garber, MD, Medical Director for Informatics, Fallon Clinic
- Michael Matthews, Chief Executive Officer, MedVirginia
- eHealth Advocate of the Year – Organization, Private Sector
- Boston Medical Center – Adoption Award
- Tufts Medical Center and the New England Quality Care Alliance – Business Process Improvement Award
