Dr. Kaufman serves as Senior Medical Director, Office of the Chief Medical Officer at Quest Diagnostics. He has held a variety of positions over the past 20 years with the company including Regional Medical Director, Northern New England; Associate Laboratory Director, Teterboro, New Jersey; Corporate Clinical Pathologist; Medical Quality Leader and Six Sigma Leader; Vice President and Chief Laboratory Officer; Vice President, Clinical Science; and Medical Director, Hospital Services, Business Development, Point of Care Testing, Health and Wellness, and Intermational.
Dr. Kaufman earned a Bachelor and Master Degree in Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts; Medical Degree at Boston University School of Medicine, Boston, Massachusetts; and Masters in Business Administration with distinction at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University, New York, New York. Dr. Kaufman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and in Chemical Pathology. He received training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts.
Prior to joining Quest Diagnostics, Dr. Kaufman worked at area hospitals in and about Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Kaufman has been involved in promoting standards and quality programs and identifying business opportunities throughout his career. Dr. Kaufman has been involved in the College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Association of Clinical Chemistry (AACC), National Chronic Kidney Disease Education Program (NCKEP), and Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI). Dr. Kaufman served on the boards and officers of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and his local synagogue. He lives with his wife and two children in New Jersey.
