Ken Yale - Biography

Ken_YaleKen Yale is Vice President of Clinical Solutions for ActiveHealth Management (AHM) where he supports product development and business development efforts for a diverse set of innovative clinical decision support tools. Dr. Yale provides clinical and thought leadership in areas such as patient-centered medical home, clinically integrated networks, and accountable care organizations. Prior to AHM, he was chief executive officer of the innovation business unit at a major, national health plan, where he had strategic and operational responsibility for innovations in chronic care and other care management services. He also worked with state governments on a variety of innovative services including patient-centered medical homes and clinically integrated networks.

Dr. Yale's work in medical management and innovation includes Corporate Vice President at Matria Healthcare, where he was responsible for business development, new product development, and creation and operation of innovative Medicaid and Medicare services. Dr. Yale is the former head of Government Programs for CorSolutions, and also was principal consultant with Health Solutions Network, focusing on innovations in healthcare and medical management, with an emphasis on health information technology and digital health. There he developed a digital health corporate strategy for a major multi-national health company, and provided strategic advice, acquisition strategy, and business development assistance to healthcare companies.

Previously Dr. Yale was a Member of the Board and Senior Fellow at the Center for Health Information and Decision Systems (CHIDS) at the University of Maryland, which provides advanced research and development related to the introduction of information technology into the healthcare system, including work on Regional Health Information Organizations and Personal/Electronic Health Records. He also led business and product development at a web-based services company, and was President and CEO of Advanced Health Solutions, a healthcare consulting firm, and Vice President at The Jefferson Group.

Before building health technology businesses, Dr. Yale held leadership positions in the federal government. He was Chief of Staff of the White House Office of Science and Technology. Before that he served as Special Assistant to the President and Executive Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council (DPC). Prior to his White House duties, Dr. Yale served as Legislative Counsel in the U.S. Senate for the Senate Leadership, a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, and instructor at Georgetown University.

Dr. Yale has provided leadership and active participation in the following organizations: Maryland State Task Force on Electronic Health Records, URAC Health Website Accreditation Committee, Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), University of Maryland Center for Health Information and Decision Systems, Atlantis Group Strategic Planning Board, and the Bureau of National Affairs Medicare Advisory Board and Health Insurance Advisory Board.

Dr. Yale received a Bachelor of Arts from Creighton University, a dental doctorate from the University of Maryland, and a J.D. from Georgetown University. He is a frequent writer and speaker on technology and regulatory topics, and author of a book and articles on medical management and health technologies.
